Ingredients and spices that need to be Take to make Checkerboard Cookies:

  1. For the Plain Vanilla Dough:
  2. 125 gms Butter: RT/Melted & I’ve used Salted one so not to use Salt separately
  3. 70-75 gms Icing/Vanilla Sugar
  4. 1 Egg Yolk
  5. 200 gms All-purpose flour/Maida
  6. 30 gms Cornflour
  7. 1 tbsp Milk Powder
  8. 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  9. For the Cocoa-Coffee Dough:
  10. 125 gms Butter: RT/Melted & I’ve used Salted one so not to use Salt separately
  11. 120-125 gms Icing/Vanilla Sugar
  12. 1 Egg Yolk
  13. 1/2 tsp Coffee Emulco/Essence
  14. 200 gms All-purpose flour/Maida
  15. 25 gms Cocoa Powder
  16. 1/2 tbsp Instant Coffee Powder
  17. 1 tbsp Milk Powder
  18. 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  19. 1 Baking Tray/Dish: Lined & Greased with Butter
  20. Preheat the Oven @160C for about 10-12 mins time

Instructions to make to make Checkerboard Cookies

  1. Firstly, following the aforesaid ingredients and their individual respective measurements- Knead a firm & pliable vanilla dough-
    Ensure to well sieve the dry ingredients before you mix in it the wet ones & knead gradually further-
    Cover & set aside until we’re done with the Cocoa-Coffee Dough next
  2. Follow the same procedures as that of the previous one just remember to do the necessary inclusions & deletion in the same when you’re kneading this dough, depending on its looks & tastes & as that of the ingredients shared above
  3. When both the doughs are kneaded and ready- Wrap them up individually in a cling film wrap or even butter paper (whichever’s available to you handy)- Before that, either shape each one out as in the shape of a cylindrical log & then wrap it up or keep it as is (As I’ve) & later on shape it accordingly to your own choice & preferences- Refrigerate the same for about a couple of hrs time before shaping & slicing them up nicely
  4. Now, post the given time of refrigerating it- Placing it onto your gently flour dusted work surface/platform:
    Roll it out about not more than 1 cm thick cylinder shape- Then, cut that up into 3-4 vertical thin & flat cylinders further- Repeat the same with each one of the doughs- You’ll get altogether out of the both- 6-8 thin-flat cylinder strips (dough)
  5. It'd somewhat look like this- Though, these particular Checkered or Checkerboards Designs, you can create/re-create on your own, ALWAYS & there isn’t any specific ground rules to that except the fact to be maintaining certain mathematical measurements (VVI) while cutting up their strips (all should go & look like equally done)👇🏻
  6. Better not to eye-ball for its stepwise strips cutting & joining them & then, again slicing them further to the cookie pieces
